Mathematical modeling for students-managers is a tool for forecasting, optimization, quantitative and qualitative analysis, that is a professional tool for economical processes management. Mathematical modeling competence (MMC) is component of a manager’s professional activities which is reflected in the FGOS of the VPO of the area 38.03.02 “Management”. Professional competency (PC-8) stems from peculiarity of profession where one should be able to analyze, generalize and systemize arrays of manifold information.

The main goals for a manager to master MMC:

1) formation of a system of fundamental knowledge necessary for effective professional manager activities.

2) formation of a skill to build mathematical models that is skill to actualize mathematical knowledge and build models based on terms of specific situation of professional activities.

These goals reflected not only in the programs of disciplines given by the ultimate departments (“Methods of taking managerial decisions” and “Mathematical models in management), but also in the program of the basic discipline of mathematical and scientific cycle of “Mathematics” [1].

Intermediate results of mastering MMC are reached in the frame of standard system of assessment.

The main methods of assessment are traditional: control works, tests, examination – as well as innovational – competency tasks (assessment of the level of formation of the competency in the study process).

Final assessment of mastering MMC takes place at the 8th term at the Government examination on the basis of replies to specially worked out professional problem situations.
