Modeling of hydrogen inside carbon nanotubes

Computer simulation of hydrogen storage in carbon nanotubes gives an indication of change in the state of aggregation of hydrogen as its accumulation in the CNT . The well-known phase diagram of the hydrogen in the presence of significant size limitations in volume, containing hydrogen can obtain appreciable distortion.

It is well known that the distortion associated with a decrease in size of up to values ​​comparable with the number of characteristic lengths that determine the state of many particles. When filling the interior of the nanotube hydrogen , limitations in size occur in the plane perpendicular to the axis of the nanotube . Our observations of the state of hydrogen , placed inside the CNT , confirm the presence of ordering characteristic of the solid phase at pressures of 50 GPa at room temperature. We hope to find the dimensional distortion through further more detailed calculations.
