Ecological-themed musical festivals keep up the child's interest in the marvelous and mysterious world of nature. Connecting to the music encourages more emotional and careful perception of nature and the child’s environment. Music is one of the means for the child’s emotional end imaginative environment perception, development of the child’s personality. Carefully picked music lets children to “try on” various characters, experience being an angry hungry wolf, beautiful and delicate flower, cowardly rabbit, clumsy bow-legged bear. Moving to the music not only reinforces ecological knowledge, but also helps children to consciously, emotionally and expressively, using the music and their body movements, show their own attitude towards the described character or event, which encourages the development of the positive emotions – love, empathy, compassion, admiration, excitement – that compose a positive field for possible future ideas and actions. Beautifully decorated hall or a kindergarten playground combined with beautiful costumes create a special atmosphere that fosters the development of ecologically aesthetical qualities. During the Forest Festival we not only performed the songs, dances, poems and riddles, but also solved urgent ecological problems with the help of Starichok-Lesovichok, Vodyanoy and Leshy. On the Flower Ball the beautiful Flower Fairy introduced the children to the field and garden flowers, and the song “Do not pluck flowers” by Yury Antonov sounded as a hymn to the primeval beauty of nature. The preparation for the folk festivals brings together all the kindergarten’s collective, including children, teachers and parents. Children especially love the “Winter farewell”, or “Maslenitsa” festival. This festival involves different kinds of games, dress-ups and pranks. Our kindergarten traditionally organizes the contest for the best snow and ice figure and a tea-party with pancakes. The “Journey through the countries of the world” festival was preceded by an introduction to the modern world culture through the national songs, dances and games. Towards the “Day of the Earth” festival kids learned to perform ecologically-themed songs and circle dances. The main goal of such festivals is not merely to perform the familiar musical pieces, poems, games and riddles about nature, but to get children involved into this experience, make them aware of the ecological problems that they can understand.
